The REDcycle scheme is no longer operational. Unfortunately, this means that there is no collection of soft plastics available at the present time. Industry is working hard to identify pathways to create a new scheme. In the meantime, customers are advised to dispose of their soft plastics in the landfill bin.

Sustainable now, for our future

We're committed to delivering better environmental outcomes, so we’ve designed a range of branded plastic satchels that are made with 80% recycled content. Our parcel boxes are locally made with recycled materials, and also carry the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) logo. This certification means that any virgin paper input is sourced from forests that are sustainable managed. You can recycle our parcel boxes in curbside bins.

Packaging Life Cycle Assessment findings

We are constantly exploring new options as packaging technology evolves. We want to stock and sell the best-performing and most sustainable packaging options to deliver on our environmental commitments and live up to our purpose of delivering a better tomorrow.

We asked an independent company, Selerant, to determine the best packaging products when considering the entire life cycle across a range of environmental indicators.

According to this research, called a Life Cycle Assessment, packaging made from 80% recycled plastic is the more sustainable option for eCommerce in Australia. It had the lowest environmental impact when compared to other packaging types tested.

All Australia Post plastic satchels contain recycled content, and our branded satchels contain 80% recycled content.

Sustainable packaging options

Creating a sustainable supply chain

We consider the social, ethical and environmental impacts of our supply chain. This means we make environmental sustainability considerations, as well as bringing key evaluation criteria into our procurement process. Today we offer:

  • a branded satchel range containing 80% recycled plastic
  • Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified parcel boxes, which means materials can be traced back to healthy, sustainably managed forests
  • recyclable packaging via kerbside collection
  • carbon neutral delivery: parcel postage paid via the Post Office, Online Shop, or MyPost Business account is carbon neutral.

We are also a signatory to the Australian Packaging Covenant and aiming for a 100% sustainable packaging range by 2025, aligned to the 2025 National Packaging Targets.

Sustainable packaging is just one way we’re reducing our environmental impact

We’re committed to helping build a sustainable society by reducing our environmental impacts, facilitating a circular economy and ensuring a transparent supply chain.
