difference’

Hi, I'm Jess Crowley. I'm the General
Manager of Bulk Nutrients, and this is our sustainability story.

So, we supply products for everything from a heavy gym goer to sort of general
health and wellbeing products, which can support you to have a healthier life.

Audio:
So, being sustainable is a key pillar for Bulk Nutrients, we're particularly mindful
because we do have to ship products a distance that we want to make sure that
everything else that we do is as sustainable as possible.

So, we investigated compostable satchels,
but the biggest issue for those in Australia at the moment is there isn't that
end of life pathway for them yet, they're not actually incompostable.

Audio:
So, we went back to Australia Posts, they were able to provide us a great deal
of research on satchels materials, what was possible.

Nutrients warehouse.

We then went back to them and got a series of samples, which we then tested
through our network. And using that research was how we came around to the
decision to go with post-consumer recycled inputs into our satchels, which can
then be collected as part of the REDcycle Programme.

So, the soft plastic recycling that you take to your local store and then is
turned into things like bollards, furniture, and those sort of things.

distribution process.
Audio:
So, one of our key features
over the past two years was looking at our plastic satchels that we send our
express parcels in. So, a few things that we had to consider there were safety
of the product, where shipping a food product obviously it has to be robust
enough to arrive in one piece when it gets to the destination.
Video:
Back to Jess Crowley talking to camera. Also, an animation of how recycling is
created into products. People on outdoor furniture created from Bulk Nutrients
recycling.
Audio:
We wanted to incorporate branding, but
also we needed to make sure that what it was made out of was not going to be
adding to the waste stream. What actually is something that I really love that
we were able to do is because in Tassie, there's a company that does use that
post-consumer waste to create furniture. And so, then we bought that furniture
for our outdoor areas, which was just a really nice thing for us to be do.

Audio:
Because being sustainable is key what we do, as we've gone down that path, we
can see that customers are appreciative that that's what we are doing. The fact
that we are a company that cares about waste.
