Founding Director, Canberra NatureArt Lab

As a social entrepreneur and Founding Director of NatureArt Lab, an art-science education business in Canberra, Julia’s leadership and community engagement experience brings together artists and scientists for conservation awareness in Australia and overseas.

Julia is an artist and naturalist with a passion for art-science collaboration. She has initiated innovative local and national forums in partnership with CSIRO, ANU, and many environmental organisations in Canberra.

Prior to this, Julia’s career with the Australian Government included aid program management with AusAID and diplomatic roles with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. This included program coordination roles in South East Asia, PNG, Timor Leste, the Pacific region, USA, and Europe - and 20 years of hands-on experience living in PNG. She worked as a Senior Analyst with the United Nations in New York and First Secretary, Australian Embassy (Bangkok) leading major projects in collaboration with governments and UN agencies, the ASEAN Secretariat, bilateral donor partners and non-government organizations.
